"Xervexagon sat quietly in the room with his back against the cool, rough wall and his heavy head bowed. The silence was almost deafening. And the shadows; the shadows seemed darker than usual...like they were more determined to swallow him alive. Such quiet genuinely bothered him. He had become so accustomed to Mayra's constant chatter...and, he realized, for once in his life, he actually felt lonely."
